Upon completing his internship, Dr. Bentivegna volunteered to work in Haiti. There, he witnessed firsthand the plight of the Haitian people, many of whom were suffering from preventable and treatable diseases. Moved by their suffering, he decided to write this book to raise awareness about the challenges faced by Haitians and to inspire political leaders, philanthropists and fellow medical personnel to take action.
