The Sleeper Issues in the Trump Tsunami – Fairness and Rule of Law

The Abuse of Prosecutorial Power to Harass Trump Violated Americans’ Sense of Fair Play.

November 7, 2024 (updated November 12, 2024)

Donald Trump is the President Elect winning 312 electoral votes and the popular vote. His coattails allowed Republicans to hold the House and has given them majority control of the Senate with 53 seats,

Pundits, professors and political junkies will be dissecting the causes of this unexpected blow out for decades. Was it an economy characterized by high inflation? Were the voters frustrated with illegal immigration? Did the outbreak of wars in Ukraine and Israel cause nuclear anxiety? Maybe cultural wars on abortion, gun control, political correctness, DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) mandates and transgender rights tipped the scale.

Or was it because Kamala Harris was a weak candidate, or the country was not ready for a Black woman president. Maybe the Democrats would have been better off hiding Biden in the basement and winning as they did in 2020. Or maybe the Democrats should have nominated a popular governor such as Shapiro, Newsom or Whitmer.

But one factor is rarely mentioned: Many Americans were repulsed by the vicious prosecutorial attacks on President Trump, starting with Mueller’s Russian hoax and endless legal harassment after he lost reelection.

When President Trump decided to run again, polls indicated that Republicans were willing to look elsewhere. There was a time when Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was leading Trump in the New Hampshire primary.

But then the Biden/Harris administration in cahoots with New York and Georgia prosecutors along with special council Jack Smith (appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland) went for Trump’s jugular. And with each attack, President Trump ticked up in the polls until by the time the Iowa caucuses had arrived, the Republican base was outraged. The other candidates were toast.

New York Attorney General Leticia James accused Trump of inflating real estate assets to obtain bank loans. There was only one problem. All the banks who lent Trump money were paid back to the penny, a fact that James conceded. But that didn’t stop Judge Engoron, with his snarky liberal grin, from ordering President Trump to pay $500,000,000 in fines. This was a direct violation of the Eighth Amendment which states “Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed.” Yet the corporate media cheered this travesty, and the ACLU was nowhere to be found.

But this was just the beginning. If an underling told a District Attorney that he wanted to charge a 78-year-old man with 34 felony counts for having a tryst with porn star 20 years ago and then using tricky bookkeeping to cover it up, the District Attorney would have gone into fits of uncontrollable laughter. Unless the 78-year-old man was Donald Trump. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg did just that, securing a conviction against Trump and a theoretical sentence of 136 years in prison!

And on it goes. Ms. E. Jean Carroll accused Trump of sexually harassing her thirty years ago but could not produce a scintilla of evidence the event occurred. She posed on the cover of New York Magazine in the Donna Karan jacket she was wearing during the alleged assault. The problem was that the jacket was debuted at least three years after she claimed alleged event occurred. The Trump-hating judge threatened to jail Trump’s lawyer if she presented this exculpatory evidence to the jury.

And then there was the Georgia incident, where Trump was arrested and had his mug shot taken to further humiliate him. His crime, asking the Secretary of the State to find more votes. The prosecutor Fani Willis used taxpayer money to hire her lover to help with the case even though he had no expertise in cases of this nature. He then used this money for each of them to go on lavish trips. When Willis was questioned under oath about this, she perjured herself. Of course nothing happened to her.

But the worst incident was when the Biden/Harris administration sent twenty-nine government agents, some armed with automatic weapons with orders “to use deadly force if necessary” into Trump’s house over a silly argument about classified documents.

During the final weeks of the campaign, Harris, Biden, the liberal media and uber wealthy celebrities were calling Trump a Nazi and a Fascist. But Trump never sent stormtroopers into a political opponent’s house. Trump never unleashed the justice department to investigate a political opponent’s sex life or conger up bogus charges that resulted in a half a billion-dollar judgment. And to add insult to injury, corrupt legal boards had Trump’s lawyers Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman disbarred! It was the Biden/Harris administration that acted like Nazis and Fascists.

American just dodged a bullet. Had Harris won, her pleasant smile and disarming laugh would have become an icy stare. And this former ruthless prosecutor would have unleashed the judicial system to harass, bankrupt and imprison political opponents. Hopefully Trump with have the courage and ability to dismantle this corrupt system.
