Joseph Bentivegna, M.D.December 28, 2024

Liz Linehan For Governor

Her Slogan: “Vote for me or I’ll Give you The Finger.”

June 4, 2024

Being a Republican in Connecticut is frustrating. Our taxes keep going up to support an increasing class of dependents along with state government and municipal retirees. Plus, the people we support are constantly reviling us because they want to give them even more money. Connecticut is “A Right Not To Work State.”

But a huge advantage of being a Connecticut Republican is that the Democrats are always entertaining us with their unintentionally hilarious behavior. The late great Rodney Dangerfield (who was a Westport resident) would be jealous.

We see Governor Ned Lamont, a champion of the environment and fierce advocate for the Climate Change Movement, destroying wetlands near his mansion without deigning to obtain a permit. Rule of Law? Destroyed habitats of Hairy Woodpeckers and Black Throated Green Warblers? Who cares? Laws don’t apply to plutocrats or Democrats.

We see the Democrats talking about “the sanctity of the ballot box” while those videotaped stuffing drop boxes in Bridgeport are not only not charged with election fraud but lionized by the Democrats.

And then of course there was Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty, the great champion of woman’s rights and leader of the #MeToo movement, who when one of her female staffers was punched by another staffer trying to seduce her, responded by finding him another job and giving him $5,000 in severance pay.

Now we have State Representative Liz Linehan concocting what could be a brilliant gambit to garner support to receive the Democratic gubernatorial nomination, although there may have been a few Cosmos involved also.

She went to New York City, stood in front of Trump Tower and with both hands, gave it The Finger. She was so proud of her behavior, that she had someone take a picture of her doing so and posted it on Twitter (X).

Now some of my more dour Republican colleagues may find this in poor taste. But for the Democrats, there is no such thing as poor taste when it comes to bashing President Trump. They loved it and now there is talk of running Linehan for Governor.

And what a fine Governor she would make. Afterall, she has a Communications Degree from Central Connecticut State University and would be a formidable opponent as she could give new meaning to the term “digital marketing.”

Plus, she is the House Chairperson for the Committee on Children and a member of the Education Committee. Thus upon Ms. Linehan taking the Governor’s Mansion, we can look forward to the following visionary legislation:

An Act Concerning a Digital Response To a Low Grade (HB 4532) – Any child age six or above has the right to confront a teacher who has given him/her/they/ze a bad grade (A- or under) with The Finger. No disciplinary action will be taken. However, the teacher may respond by giving the student The Finger. This teacher may not be fired or have any threat of pension removal.

An Act Concerning a Digital Response To Republican Lawn Signs (HB 5390) – Any person and/or persons offended by a lawn sign bearing the name of a Republican candidate may give the sign the finger whether or not the owner on said domicile where the sign is located is present. Furthermore, a lawn sign bearing Donald Trump’s name may be mooned without any charges for public indecency.

But there is a problem. What about individuals with medical conditions that make it difficult to give The Finger. No problem. Governor Linehan will propose the following:

An Act Concerning Hand Surgery for the Right to Give the Finger (HB 2333) As giving The Finger is a fundamental right, no hand surgeon in Connecticut can deny the right of any citizen to give The Finger. Thus, all hands surgeons must provide hand surgery free of charge to those individuals or cannot give The Finger due to arthritis, Dupuytren’s Contraction or any other similar condition.

We residents of Connecticut can be proud of public servants like Representative Liz Linehan and the Democratic voters who put them in power. She is a beacon of empowerment and a role model for our children and grandchildren.
