Ceasefire is a Setback for Israel’s Security

Hamas Will Not Tolerate the Existence of the Jewish State

April 10, 2024

Sixth months ago, Hamas launched a barbarous attack on Israel resulting in the massacre of 1,200 people and the subsequent taking of hostages. Israel replied with an offensive in the Gaza Strip that has claimed significant territory but cost tens of thousands of lives.

President Biden initially strongly supported Israel stating:

“You know, there are moments in this life — and I mean this literally — when the pure, unadulterated evil is unleashed on this world…. Women raped, assaulted, paraded as trophies…. So, in this moment, we must be crystal clear: We stand with Israel. We stand with Israel. And we will make sure Israel has what it needs to take care of its citizens, defend itself, and respond to this attack. There is no justification for terrorism. There is no excuse.”

Of course this was just political theater. The Democratic anti-Semitic left responded in full force, calling Israel an apartheid state, accusing Israel of genocide and harassing Jewish students at elite campuses.

But it wasn’t until Democratic Arab leaders in the swing states of Minnesota and Michigan put Biden on notice that they would walk and allow Trump to win that Biden flipflopped 180 degrees. Biden now condemns Israel and its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu practically on a daily basis. Vice President Kamala Harris, who will almost certainly become president if Biden wins (his dementia will progress and he will be forced to resign), has been even more forceful in denouncing Israel.

270 electoral votes are required to win in November. In 2020, President Trump won 232. But recent polls show Trump with significant leads (around 5%) in Arizona, Georgia and Nevada. This places the former President at 261 electoral votes. Thus, if Trump wins either Michigan or Minnesota, he mimics Grover Cleveland and is reelected after a four-year hiatus.

Biden’s politically spinelessness was so blatant that the Israeli press was joking that his two-state solution involved “Minnesota and Michigan.”

Furthermore, Israel never had a better friend than President Trump – who has grandchildren being raised as Jewish. While other presidents promised to move the American Embassy to Jerusalem, President Trump actually did so. In fact, the square where the embassy is located is named after President Trump.

There were no attacks on Israel during his presidency.

Trump did not kowtow to the Palestinians – who refused to acknowledge Israel’s right to exist. Rather he began the Abraham accords in which individual Arab countries made diplomatic deals with Israel. His energy policies caused gas prices to plummet breaking Iran thus rendering them unable to fund Hamas and Hezbollah. In fact, had Trump won reelection, the Ayatollah in Iran may have been overthrown.

But President Biden won, reversed Trump’s policies and the Mid East is now in flames.

Thus, the Democratic Party had a choice: Throw Israel under the bus or increase Trump’s chances of winning. They choose to throw Israel under the bus. Even the America’s leading Jewish politician, Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer, castigated Prime Minister Netanyahu and called for a cease fire, stating:

“As a lifelong supporter of Israel, it has become clear to me: The Netanyahu coalition no longer fits the needs of Israel after October 7. The world has changed — radically — since then, and the Israeli people are being stifled right now by a governing vision that is stuck in the past.”

But what has changed? Hamas launched a vicious attack against Israel and has not apologized for doing so. They not only have refused to acknowledge Israeli’s right to exist, but actively call for its destruction. What is there to negotiate? This only gives Hamas time to reorganize.

Israel tried its best to minimize civilian casualties, but this is impossible in brutal urban guerilla warfare. The dirty little secret is that wars are not won on the battlefield. They are won by breaking the will of the enemy.

Japan did not surrender after losing the Battles of Midway and Iwo Jima. They surrendered after nuclear bombs killed over 150,000 civilians in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The South was not defeated at Gettysburg. It was defeated by Sherman’s March to the Sea, where Southerners had their homes and crops burned while unarmed men, woman and children watched helplessly.

The United States was well on its way to winning the Viet Nam War as General Curtis LeMay was “bombing Viet Nam back to the Stone Age” until the war was put on American’s television screens. The anti-war movement caused President Johnson’s support to plummet so far into the toilet that he did not even bother to run for reelection.

Israel is now hamstrung by Rules of Engagement that will not permit them to win. But one thing is for sure, if Hamas ever gets the upper hand on Israel, it is unlikely the favor will be returned.

Hillary Clinton recently appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s show in which he asked her: “What do you say to voters who are upset that those are the two choices? [Trump or Biden]”

Clinton replied: “Get over it. Those are the two choices.”

Exactly. The choice is clear. Trump or Israel’s survival on the ropes. Pick one. You get what you vote for.
