Predictions for 2024. This Could Be an Ugly Year

December 30, 2023

Once again, it is time to repeat my predictions for the following year. As many of my readers are right of center, you need to prepare yourself for news you don’t want to hear.

But unlike most so-called pundits, I repeat my previous predictions. My political predictions were mostly accurate for 2023 but anyone who bet on my sports or financial predictions did not fare well.

The Stock market will be flat. Wrong. The S and P was up 24% and now equals its record high.

Inflation will remain a problem. Correct. While the Federal Reserve and government-paid economists are telling us that inflation is under control, anyone who has tried to buy or rent a place to live, obtain health insurance, pay homeowners and car insurance, or simply go grocery shopping knows this is a total lie.

Joe Biden will announce his reelection bid. Correct.

Ron DeSantis will announce he is running for President. Correct

The Supreme Court will rule against affirmative action (Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President and Fellows of Harvard College). Correct

The Supreme Court will uphold the primacy of state legislatures to make election law (Moore v. Harper). Wrong. In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that state courts could review and challenge state election laws.

The Michigan Wolverines will be the national football college champs. Incorrect. Georgia won.

The Philadelphia Eagles will win the Super Bowl. Incorrect. The Kansas City Chiefs won.

The Steelers will be Super Bowl contenders. Incorrect although there is a miniscule chance this could still happen.

Now for 2024.

The Stock Market will gain around 5%. The Federal Reserve will keep interest rates low to increase Biden’s chances of reelection thus helping the overvalued market become more overvalued.

Joe Biden will be the Democratic nominee. There is no politically viable way he can be replaced without fragmenting the Democratic coalition.

Donald Trump will be the Republican nominee. No candidate in modern history has had the lead among his Party like Trump. While Haley enthusiasts may be buoyed by recent polls, they fail to realize that those favoring DeSantis or Ramaswamy prefer Trump by 80%. Thus, Trump beats Haley at least 2-1 in a heads-up match.

The Democrats will retake the House. Presently the Republicans hold a narrow three-person majority but court decisions allowing Democratic gerrymandering in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and New York along with Trump’s unpopularity in marginal wealthy suburban districts will be enough for the Democrats to take over.

The Republicans will retake the Senate. Presently the Democrats hold the Senate 51-49 (when including three independents who caucus with the Democrats) but with Democrat Joe Manchin not running for reelection in West Virginia, this state will go Republican. Arizona, Montana and Ohio are presently held by Democrats and at least one of these will go Republican.

Joe Biden will win reelection. At least 55% of the country agrees with Trump’s agenda but this will not be enough to prevent the ruling class of this planet to bludgeon the electorate with violence and dubious threats of a Trump dictatorship. Trump will be ahead on Election Day but a billionaire-financed ballot harvesting operation in the swing states that would cause Bridgeport mayor Joe Ganim to blush will pull Biden over the finish line. Trump will impotently protest but no lawyer will help him as the ruling class has either bankrupted, disbarred or threatened to imprison the lawyers who represented Trump in the past. But the real loser will be our democracy.

The Cleveland Browns will win the Super Bowl. This disrespected team is peaking at the right time and Joe Flacco has improved with age.

The Michigan Wolverines will be the national football champions. This team is a wrecking crew.

Both the UConn Men and UConn Women will make the Elite Eight. As I tell my friends, the Yankees, Steelers, Knicks and Republicans will frequently let you down, so it pays to be a UConn basketball fan because they are always in the hunt. Plus the Women never miss their foul shots in the clutch.

The Steelers will be Super Bowl contenders. I never give up.

Happy New Year.
